Tourists enthralled by Heavy Snowfall in Mussoorie

As the news of snowfall in Mussoorie spread like wild fire the tourists from as far as Delhi flocked to the hill station town for witnessing the marvel of the nature. The snowfall had eluded the residents of Mussoorie in the winter season but it duly obliged with the advent of spring season. According to the police officials early two thousand tourists on the motor cycles have registered their presence in the town along with large number of commuters on the 4 wheels. The snowfall which began early in the morning continued for approx. 4 hours covering the nook and corner of the town with a white cover. The Police had harrowing time to control the sudden rush as traffic jam was the order of the day. The Uttarakhand Patrol vehicle was also called in for assisting the traffic police. However the tourist were delighted at the mesmerizing sight of the White Mountains and enjoyed by throwing snowballs at each other.Ramesh tourist from Saharanpur said that this was the first occasion for them to witness the snowfall from sky. “It seemed like cotton flakes were falling from heaven” added Meena his wife.
The students of premiere institutions were also seen enjoying the snow at Mall road with each other. Vijay Negi an eminent documentary film maker from Mussoorie said that it is a rare sight to witness snowfall in the month of Febraury.He also added that many Himalayan Birds were bewildered at this abrupt snow in this month.
The snow has come as boon to the farmers as the water will recharge the natural springs thus providing ample water to the rain fed fields thus saving the crops and life of many otherwise the danger of drought has been looming large. Many Youth from Dehradun found this an opportune moment to celebrate Valentines Day in advance as they were seen exchanging gifts at Mall Road.Surat Singh Kharkai said that nature has given the best gift to the Queen of Hills on the eve of Valentines Day and this snow will have a positive impact on the economy of the town. Horticulture expert Kundan Panwar are of the view that this snow is beneficial for the Crop of Apple, Apricots and walnuts in the fruit belt of Dhanaulti and Yamuna Valley.
Matbir Singh Kandari irrigation minister of the state was also caught in the abrupt snow while on his way to Thatyur for Janta Darshan.He could not go further than Mussoorie due to heavy snow and slippery conditions on the way towards Jhabarkhet.He along with Khajan Das MLA Dhanaulti waited for few hours for te snow to melt down.
After a snowless winter the weather God showed its generousity in the month of February towards Mussoorie as long awaited snow descended in the form of snow flakes changing the landscape of the hill station town completely.The snow began afer the clouds showed ominous signs last night and earlymorning toay at 5.00 clock the drizzle converted into snow which is carryin on still.The Honeymooners are the most delighted lot seeing his after a long time in spring season.Generally the snowfall season is December January but this year their was no snow in winter month.The resident are of the view that the snow in the month of february is seen after a long time.
