However, around 30 residents of Featherville have refused to evacuate their homes as the Trinity Ridge fire closes in. This puts an extra burden on firefighters, who only have the Trinity Ridge blaze 5% contained.

Now firefighters have to worry about protecting those 30 people, who are endangered before the fire even gets to their doorsteps: the heat and smoke pose a danger first.

The Trinity Ridge wildfire also threatens a stretch of the North Fork Boise River, where firefighters hoped to head off the blaze before it could make its way toward Idaho City.
