Tropical Storm Fred could become Hurricane Fred in the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center. Tropical Storm Fred is currently generating 50mph winds and is moving at 15mph towards the west. Currently, Tropical Storm Fred is 345 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands, off the coast of West Africa.

"Additional strengthening is forecast, and Fred could become a hurricane over the next couple of days," the NHC said in an advisory.
