Tropical Storm Ida Heads for Nicaragua: Ida Projected Path
Tropical Storm Ida had formed in the Southwestern Caribbean and as it heads for Nicaragua it is expected to release about 25 inches of rain over that country and Honduras. The intense rain could produce flooding and mudslides.
At the current time Ida is producing 60 mph winds, and although it is still difficult to project Ida's path, it is thought to be heading in to the Northwest Caribbean near the Yucatan Peninsula leading up to next Monday, but with strong currents at work this is not an absolute.
While favorable atmospheric conditions could feed its strength, Ida was also expected to make landfall by Tuesday evening, leaving the storm little time too develop. Some models suggested the storm would dissipate as it crossed Nicaragua and Honduras.

Another Update: 5-Nov-2009@12:55PM EST:
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Ida will weaken during its path through Nicaragua and Honduras. It is expected to move towards Cancun, Mexico, past the Gulf Of Mexico, and finally to the Gulf Coast of the USA.
Hurricane Ida has weakened into Tropical Storm Ida with Maximum Winds at 65 mph and the coordinates of 13.1N 83.7W. The minimum pressure is at 990mb and is currently at a stationary position.
The Nicaraguan Government has replaced the Hurricane Watch and Warning with a Tropical Storm Warning effective from Bluefields, Nicaragua to the Honduran/Nicaraguan Frontier.
Regardless, there is a need for monitoring on an ongoing basis.
