Tropical Storm Isaac Could Hit Florida as a Hurricane

Tropical Storm Isaac continues its Caribbean tour, maintaining wind speeds of 45mph. The National Hurricane Center still predicts that Isaac could become a hurricane within the next few days, and Isaac is headed for Florida. You can see an updated map of Tropical Storm Isaac's projected path below.

Tropical Storm (or Hurricane) Isaac hitting Tampa would mean that the Republican National Convention would not be held as planned, though the business of the convention would go ahead as normal.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for:

  • South coast of the Dominican Republic (Isla Saona to the Haiti-Dominican Republic border)
  •  Haiti


A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:

  • British Virgin Islands
  • Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra
  • The U.S. Virgin Islands
  • North Coast Of Dominican Republic from the border with Haiti to north of Isla Saona

A Tropical Storm Watch Is In Effect For:

  • Southeastern Bahamas and the Acklin Islands
  • Crooked Island, Long Cay, The Inaguas, Mayaguana
  • The Ragged Islands
  • The Turks And Caicos Islands
