Tropical Storm Nicole Projected Path September 29: Warnings

Tropical Storm Nicole, Previously Named Tropical Depression 16, is Expected to Bring Poor Weather to Parts of Florida and the Caribbean

Tropical Storm Nicole is currently located about 80 miles northeast of Havana, Cuba and about 225 miles southwest of Nassau in the Bahamas according to the National Hurricane Center.

A Tropical Storm Warning is currently in effect for the Cayman Islands, the Provinces of Cuba from Matanzas eastward to Ciego De Avila, and the Northwestern and Central Bahamas.

Tropical Storm Warnings and Watches for Florida have been canceled, however about four to ten inches of rain could still be possible for parts of southern Florida.

Tropical Storm Nicole will gradually increase in strength over the next 24 hours, and is expected to move over the Florida straits and near the northwestern Bahamas on Wednesday.

AT 200 PM EDT...1800 UTC...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM NICOLE WAS ESTIMATED NEAR LATITUDE 23.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 80.6 WEST. NICOLE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST NEAR 10 MPH...17 KM/HR. A MOTION BETWEEN NORTH-NORTHEAST AND NORTHEAST ACCOMPANIED BY A GRADUAL INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON THE FORECAST TRACK...THE CENTER OF NICOLE IS FORECAST TO MOVE OVER THE FLORIDA STRAITS THIS AFTERNOON...AND MOVE NEAR OR OVER THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS TONIGHT.
