Tropical storm 'Pablo' threatens Philippines by jayr_patron

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration today raised signal no. 1 in the islands of samar and Leyte on eastern Visayas due to the impending bad weather brought about by tropical storm "Pablo".

As of 10am, Tuesday, the storm center was eyed at 140 kilometers East Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.  Pablo has a maximum sustained winds of 65kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80kph.

According to Inquirer.net, more than 1,300 passengers were stranded in Matnog town in Sorsogon after port authorities suspended all ferry trips to Allen port in samar.

Pablos is expected to sideswipe if not directly affect Metro Manila, bringing about rains in the region, on late Thursday.
