Two minor earthquakes hit Dallas and Irving, Texas this morning, in an early Halloween scare, but so far, no reports of injuries or damage.

The first Texas earthquake hit at 11:25pm, and was a 2.5 magnitude, which started a series of smaller quakes, and then another Dallas earthquake which hit Irving Texas as well, happened at 12:01am, which was a 3.0 magnitude earthquake

Dallas has experienced some earthquakes, but the city usually gets more hurricanes and tornadoes.

Irving police received 911 calls from about 25 people saying they had felt the quakes, but there were no reports of injuries or damage, Officer David Tull said Friday morning.

A 3.1 quake was reported about 11:30 a.m. Thursday near McCloud, Okla., some 180 miles north of the Dallas area, with no reports of injuries or damage, according to the USGS.

Although researchers are not sure if a fault line runs along that area, they consider the earthquakes in the two states to be separate events because they occurred so far apart in distance and time, said USGS geophysicist Jessica Sigala.

"Texas sees earthquakes every once in awhile, so it's very new to us even," Sigala said. "We hope we'll figure out exactly where and why this happened. East of the Rocky Mountains, fault lines are hard to distinguish because earthquakes don't happen as often."

The U.S. Geological Survey has been able to determine fault lines — such as the San Andreas Fault in California, the most quake-prone state in the continental U.S. — usually after earthquakes occur, Sigala said.

I happen to be travelling from Alaska to Dallas to see Puddle of Mud at the Freakers Ball. Upon arrival I kept asking people what it was like to live somewhere that you could get hit by a tornado. They would ask... what is it like to get hit by an earthquake...

I had to laugh when I awoke to find the exact area in which I was staying, Grand Prarie, got hit with two earthquakes.

Won't be moving to Dallas anytime soon ;)

One change to the report..Dallas is not used to earthquakes and as for hurricanes...we get the ocassional backlash of wind and rain but are really too far inland to get the brunt of the fury of any hurricane.

amyjudd, a series of earthquakes have been striking near Shungnak, ranging from a couple of 4.1 to many 2.5.  This region does not experience many quakes.

IN truth, the earthquakes were not strong enough to acutally be detected in Dallas proper - just in suburbs of Grand Prairie and Irving (home of Texas Stadium and the Irving Cowboys).

There also have been some aftershocks reported.

So far, no damage and no injuries.

(did I mention that Irving is the home to Texas Stadium and the Cowboys? - the IRVING Cowboys?)

Obviouse Truth

Is it not clearly obviouse that these recent events are directly realted the the major contructions that have been going on in DFW i.e( News Highways and mix masters......hello what about all these oil and natural gas drillings that have been going on, come on people those kind of things will create a fault line where there never was one! How about the fact that the population has increased so dramatically in the last decade????? Is it not obviouse that many earthquakes are in areas of the earth that are densly populated? The influx and major activity if all these new commers could be a stress factor on our local earth crust that is just too much to bare. One thing is for sure it is just the begining of mother earth begining to fight back!

I live in Irving and felt the quakes.  Felt the apartment unit move and it really freaked me out.  Figured it was some large person making there way up the outside stairs but couldn't understand why everything moved.  When I found out it was an earth quake later,  I totally understood......

It's Saturday morning.  My husband and I just felt 2 more tremors!!! He was leaving to work at around 6:55 a.m.  What are you supposed to do?  Do you report it?  It's a weird feeling.

By the way, I forgot to mention I live in Irving, too.  And it was 6:55 am Central time.  I wonder if these will occur more frequently now.

I felt the the quakes again this morning !  Right around 6:55 a.m. I felt the same movement in my Irving apartment complex unit as the night before.  About two minutes later it happened again with the same magnitude.  Again about an hour later felt  movement again but on a smaller scale.

DALLAS (AP) — Northern Texas has been getting more rare earth tremors, one day after several minor earthquakes made Halloween memorable for some people in the area.

Two almost simultaneous aftershocks were centered beneath Grand Prairie and Irving just before 7 a.m. Saturday. The U.S. Geological Survey says the Grand Prairie quake measured 2.5 magnitude and the Irving quake came in at 2.7.

Saturday's tremors between Dallas and Fort Worth were in the same general areas as on Friday, when tremors of magnitude 2.5 set off car alarms. Switchboards for 911 systems lit up with calls from people near the quakes' epicenters but no damage was reported.

...hello all. I rarely watch tv because I'm always so busy but my mother was just telling me about these quakes. We have a residence right outside of downtown Dallas and have not experienced any of these tremors. I am certain research is in place regarding these quakes, does any one have an official link from authorities regarding these occurrences? As I read your comments I realized this is not something we take easily, I was shocked, and began to try and imagine the fault line, but it's hard to remember from Texas Geology class. Any one have links for us to see that?

Get used to it, they are going to be more and more frequent and strong in the coming years.I felt one here in Florida in the middle of the night, which is very very unheard of here.

omg!  I just took my 4 year old son to spend the week in Dallas with his Dad.  I just heard about this!!  My son's Dad lives in Addison which is outside of Dallas.

Aren't small tremors and quakes a sign of more to come?  What should I do?  My Mommy instincts are telling me to go and get my son!!  I am worried!

Today a 6.1 in ALEUTIAN IS., ALASKA.

Not unusual for Alaska, but worth mentioning.  Many smaller earthquakes lately in the same region about 1000 SW of Anchorage.

Earthquakes seem to be a common site in California and in British Columbia, as I was down there in Vancouver when a minor Earthquake happened. I remember being in my apartment in Vancouver and the whole place just vibrated all around me. And quakes in California are just a common thing, luckily so far it's just been minor ones at best. Well it's a good thing in Dallas

Aren't small tremors and quakes a sign of more to come?  . . .

Yes, however 95% of the time the first one is the biggest.

The USGS website has the exact Longitude and Latitude information on all 8 reported Irving Grand Prairie quakes.

Texas is a most interesting place to watch. I lived there for many  years, in virtually all it's biggest cities. I was there as part of the infamous Heaven's Gate group where it's two leaders who said their souls were from deep outer space, (but not humanoid space aliens), but the same soul (Do) that inhabited the Jesus human body, with the so called "Father" then being the second one (Ti).

And for those following ufo reports, there was a huge mass sighting of an exceptionally huge object last february in Stephensville, Texas and to date as of a couple days ago continuous sightings in that area.

Plus of course the latest demon leader bushite outpost and said "underground base" near the crawford residence.

Earthquakes are rare over there, but underground clandestine building projects are not and there are patented nuke powered rock melting equipment so I would not exclude things manmade (or space alien made) as potential stimulants of some earthquakes and especially in light of the huge caverns that have been emptied of oil, which may be more of the explanation.

I'd say to watch Texas carefully, but of course the entire southwest Un-united States is a hotbed of such history, to include northeastern Mexico who recently reported a huge surge of UFO sightings, which by the way is being reported by internet related news media of all the major hard copy and mainstream publications with an unprecedented increase, bringing back old stories....and why.

Believe it or not it may be related to Joe Biden's prophecy of a coming "crisis" he asked us to "mark his words" about.

Hold onto your hats everyone!
