Snow will fall across Britain this weekend, and temperatures will drop starting Sunday night as cold winds from Western Russia will bring freezing winds to areas like Lincolnshire and north of that.

The UK will be colder than some parts of Antarctica and Alaska, and Monday morning will see the start of the snow.

Rachel Vince, of forecasters MeteoGroup, said: "It's looking like temperatures will fall away during Sunday night and Monday and next week is looking distinctly colder than this week.

"On Sunday we are looking at showers coming from the east and turning increasingly wintry as the day progresses.

"It looks Monday night will see some more persistent snow. We are expecting enough snow to cause disruption in places. The snow will settle where it falls."
