Police are not saying much about the arrests yet only to say that the two are assisting with inquires. The death toll from the fires currently stand at 181 people, but not all the areas have been explored yet. Police suspect that arsonists are responible for the Churchill fire at least.

Deputy Police Commissioner Simon Overland says the pair were not seen lighting fires and they are assisting police with their inquiries

"It will take us a little time just to work through and establish just what's been going on," he said.

It is sad to know that some would deliberately set fires that in this case killed over 140 people so far. Is that nor a form a terror? Yet this one merely for the fun of it, so it seems. Like rebels with out causes. Maybe we need to stop spoiling our youth for it is not healthy for their minds.

It is shocking that out come of this incident. So many lives and property lost and the wildlife. Good post Amy. Really sad what has happened there.

Only two? That makes four. Have you heard from Maireid? She was too close to the fires.

The two arrested were let go after inquiries as it was not them but they are closing in on the one who started the church hill fires.  Witnesses saw some young guy on a motorbike hooning about just before the fire started.
