The main Ryukyu island of Okinawa went into Tropical Cyclone Condition 1 Caution at approximately 1215 p.m. as Typhoon Chaba continues to pass near the island.  Shortly after, the island was put into Condition 1 Emergency coinciding with several brief power outages that occurred in my Okinawa City neighborhood. Currently, the winds continue to wail outside as residents watch from the safety of the concrete housing in the area.
