Unexploded Bomb in East London: crater is almost gone! by LoopZilla

The bomb is lodged in the Prescott Channel. It was discovered on Monday and has taken five days to be made safe. Sources suggest that the exclusion zone asked by the army bomb disposal team was not granted, and smaller zone put up around the bomb.

The target for the bomb was probably the Bromley By Bow gas works at the end of the channel at Twelvetrees Crescent. The gasworks (gasometers) survived this day and are grade II listed buildings.
