United Nations Has An UN University.
What do we know about the UN and what does it do? We were asked by our teacher to write a paper about "International Relations" for my class assignment. So I wrote about the UN since I got a chance to travel to the UN and see it for myself. And I wanted to write about what they do and their beginnings. The UN caught my attention because of their mission for world co-operation and the fact that there was an UN University.
Who? The United Nations (UN) is a global and international group that strives to help support co-operation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress and human rights issues. The UN was founded in 1945, prior to the UN we had "The League of Nations", whose goal was to help stop wars between countries and to give us a place to talk about issues and problems to work things out. According to the official site: 192 Member States joined the United Nations to date. How many countries are there in the world? There are 195 official countries of the world. Who is missing?
What / Where they do - The UN is part of the summit of the Group of Eight (G8) with industrialized nations and will be doing a meeting on July 7 to the 9th 2008 on the island of Toyako in Hokkaido, Japan. They will talk about the world economy - the increasing price of oil, the environment - and climate change, and political challenges such as nuclear arms. Also on the agenda they will talk about the development of Africa.
Why? why? Economic co-operation of power, resources, political ideas and to deter the possiblity for war for the better safer, secure world to create a platform for talks and move towards action. I wasn't aware that there was a UN University dedicated and committed to solving global problems.

DAMIRworld, I think your story has potential but needs some improvement. I've got a few suggestions, and if you give them a try, I'd be happy to remove this flag. I wasn't sure what was newsworthy in this story. News should always be about posting current stuff - new things you've discovered. Please review What Makes News News. It can really help if you follow the old "W5" news formula -- making sure you have answered the questions: Who? What? Where? When? And Why? (You might want to check out our J-Tips for more help.)
