Update: London 2012's 'Bin Bag' route to Stratford, Olympic City
Further to my article on 26 August on the squalor of the Olympic Route from the City of London to Stratford, and several emails, to The Mayor of London and Newham Council, I walked today around Stratford to see that 'something had actually happened'.
As you can see, from the latest photo, instead of seeing loads of rubbish spilling from the bins, and all over the pavement, you cannot even see a single crisp bag. Look again. It's clean!
In fact, one photo I took in my previous story, had about 20 black bags huddled in a side street. These have now gone.
Furthermore, Newham Council, in the Newham Recorder today, are 'planning to get tough on anti social behaviour by publishing images of people suspected of dropping litter'. These photos will be splattered all over their website.
Though there is still a long way to go, Newham Council are finally 'getting their act together'.
When you think there is no hope in these so called 'deprived areas', if the place looks clean, hopefully people will want to keep it that way. People will see that their council tax, is actually going to the right places.
I would add that the Mayor of London never did not reply to my email.
