UPDATE: Typhoon Chan-hom on Crash Course with the Philippines.
Current forecasts suggest the storm will make landfall on the Philippines near the town of Bolinao on the coast of Lingayen Bay within the next 20 hours. The outer bands of the typhoon are already sweeping the region bringing strong winds and torrential rains.
This storm comes on the heels of typhoon Kujira which formed off the east coast of the Philippines last week and reportedly killed 27 people in the province of Sorsogon.
Chan-Hom was threatening the Philippines just days after storm Fujira battered the country, leaving at least 27 people killed and eight more missing.
Most of the fatalities were buried in a landslide in the eastern province of Sorsogon, 375km south of Manila.
More 50 000 people remained in different evacuation centres and damages to agriculture, livestock and fisheries were estimated at 451.73m pesos ($9.41m).

great to see we have both Vinny and TyphoonHunter on storm watch for NP, I think typhoon No2 is passing along the Japan coast but far enough out not to be a problem. I think we've started early this year, at least that's what my memory is saying. Vinny good to see you have a new watchtower address and head dress!

Hey Samurai!
Kujira could pose a threat to Chichi Jima and and Iwo To in the next few days however these islands are quite sparsely populated by my understanding. At the moment I think Chan-hom could be a threat to NW Philippines in a few days time.
