US offers debt swap worth 19.6 million US dollars for forests

"Actually, 19.6 million US dollars is a very small amount," she said.

She explained further that her ministry will soon set up a special institution to accommodate the funding of environmental programs, including forest conversion.

"We will talk about the details later. But one thing is sure, namely that we will ask NGOs to take part in forest management programs," she said.

The finance minister said Indonesia has on several occasions received debt conversion facilities for environmental programs, such as those from the German government worth 25 million euro.
