US to provide US$100,000 for Bengkulu quake victims

"The United States government will also assign personnel and accommodate assistance from international non-governmental organizations (NGO) in handling Bengkulu quake victims," he said.

Fauzan said the regional government of Bengkulu had also received assistance from Belgium`s Medicienes Sans Frontieres (MSF) in the form of various necessities. This assistance has been handed over to the victims in three affected villages.

He said that the MSF has extended 84 pieces of tarpaulins, 168 blankets, 84 packages of hygiene kits such as soaps, toothbrushes and toothpastes to the victims in Air Bersih village.

The MSF also channeled assistance to Rajo village in North Bengkulu 40 pieces of tarpaulins, 80 blankets and 32 packages of hygiene kits.

Other village which received the MSF assistance was Kota Agung in North Bengkulu. The assistance included 178 tarpaulins and 345 blankets.
