Earthquake in Central Asia Kills at Least 13

At least 13 people were killed in a 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the Ferghana Valley, which runs through Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. At least 84 people have been injured. The quake was also felt in Kyrgyzstan, but the real reports of damage are coming from Uzbekistan..

The Uzbekistan quake struck at 1:35am local time on July 20. The epicenter was 26 miles from Fergana, Uzbekistan.



"As a result of the earthquake, some old buildings were destroyed in the Ferghana region," the Uzbek ministry said in a statement.

"According to initial information, 13 people were killed as a result of the damage to the houses."
