I am not attempting to deter anyone from getting this vaccine, those will compromised immune systems or those who work in health care, schools, or public places may want to get it.  If an individual wants the shot they should.  However, for the 51% of Canadians (according to CTV News this evening) and myself that do not want this immunization, I have provided a link to the Japan Times Online where an article headlined, H1N1 vaccine side effects reported, stating:

“…Seven of the 22,000 medical workers vaccinated against H1N1 swine flu have developed side effects, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said…Four of the seven developed serious side effects, including vomiting and diminished consciousness, but all are recovering, the ministry said. The other three complained of minor symptoms, such as developing hives…”

Like I said, please do not take my interest in the ‘thumbs down’ attitude of the available vaccination for the H1N1 virus as anything but my personal opinion…

This has to be a personal choice.

Personally I am of this thought. In the UK, I have no idea about Canada, for new drugs to come to market they have to be tested an trailed for 5 years - this vaccine hasn't - and if it is deemed as perfectly safe now - why does it take years to give the go-ahead for other life saving drugs?

Again, here as I have said elsewhere on this subject I will go with the advice I was given as a child: 'If you are going to sneeze - make sure you do it into that handkerchief you were bought!'

Plenty of disposable tissues you can use, and you can use a cloth handkerchief - even with your initials on them if you want to go to the expense.

Sneezing into the crook of your elbow always brings back the memory of being told off for wiping your nose on your sleeve.

Exactly, I like how you put that, "other life saving drugs" for illness and disease that has been plaguing our planet for lifetimes!   I wonder where the FDA really stands on this? I will be waiting till clincal trials are completed on this NEW vaccine, before I go and get my arm pricked...
