The Vancouver Olympic committee seems to be sending mixed messages on transportation.  The bid book called for support for cycling infrastructure and public transit.

But they are using a fleet of over 4,000 vehicles that seems to consists mostly of SUVs.  In the weeks leading up to the games the SUVs have been observed almost always with a single occupant.

And yesterday one of the official VANOC SUVs was photographed parked in a bike lane.

Which just goes to show that SUV's are the transportation mode of choice.  Gotta fly, driving myself down to the Games in my Land Rover!!!!
