Parts of the world are experiencing severe weather this weekend, and many are wondering how this is going to affect their Thanksgiving travel plans.

The week of Thanksgiving is the biggest travel week of the year, and weather reports are warning that more snow is coming for the Northeast of the United States, and rain will hit California. Air from the Canadian Arctic will cause snow to hit areas from the Gulf Coast to the Midwest and the Eastern States.

Cold winds will cross the relatively mild Great Lakes Tuesday through Thursday, bringing bouts of heavy snow to typical snowbelt areas. The snow will pile on top of the most recent lake-effect snow which accumulated up to 2 feet in places like the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and upstate New York through late Friday.

Snow has hit parts of the UK as well already, and more is expected to come.

Several roads have been closed in northern Scotland after heavy snow made driving conditions treacherous.

Snow showers are spreading down eastern England, affecting north Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Snow could hit more areas on Sunday.

Temperatures could drop to as low as -6 degrees in Scotland and Eastern England, and more snow is expected to fall in Aberdeen. A weather advisory has been issued for northern Scotland, Suffold, and Norfolk.
Back in the US, snow showers and wind are expected across New England and parts of the Mid-Atlantic.

Meanwhile, northwestern Pennsylvania, as well as southwestern and central New York, were to continue to see lake effect snow. Up to several inches of snow were expected.

Mostly to partly sunny skies were to prevail across the Ohio Valley down to the Southeast. However, temperatures were to remain cold, with highs in the 50s during the day and below freezing temperatures at night.

Good report, I will be interested to see how the economic conditions impact travel this weekend as well as the weather.

I agree we could see some interesting weather this Thanksgiving. It has always been an unpredictable weather time for the North East of the USA. Snow is likely any year but so are temps as warm as 60 degrees. Looks like many other areas of the country might share the snow with us this year.

Great Reporting and living here in Japan, I keep forgetting about those festivities.
