We are Steve and Kathy Arkwright's family - tell him to call his brother, John. We have not been able to reach him - or video tape him and other residents so we know he and Kathy are ok. Hopefully, someone from West Hartford will read this. All of you are in our prayers. Maria Arkwright "Jensen".

I used to live 2 houses from Steve and Kathy. I actually talked to Steve this afternoon. They are fine. The house took on about 4-5 feet of water through it. The important thing is THEY ARE OK.

My name is Kevin Hoffman. My wife, Sherri, and I used to live in West Hartford. Our house (tan cape with brown shutters) was next to Ray Rivard's and right in front of the cemetery. Please let me know if the house and Ray's (if they still live there) are OK. Post photos if you can. Thanks

Kevin W, you may have already talked to them but your Dad's house was untouched. Andrea, your old house was damaged but is standing, not sure of the damage extent but it didn't appear to be off the foundation so that's good.Kevin H, your old house is also fine.

Hi. I used to own the house next to the library, just south. I heard it was damaged in the flood. Do any of you know how badly? Is there any place where I can find photos of the houses in the village? We did extensive renovations to the house and are saddened to hear that it was damaged. Is everyone in the village ok, otherwise?

We lived in the house across from the bridge (4 Pomfret Rd) for 24 years. I was the president of the board of trustees for the library for many of those years. Frank and I are so devastated to hear about and view the damage done to West Hartford. I'm glad to hear everyone is safe, and it looks like the library may be okay as well. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the town, including the Woods, Arkwrights, and Conrads.

I live in Kansas City. Wondering if the cemetery at West Hartford suffered much damage? I have many family members buried there. My Grandmother Adeline Barrows passed on her birthday, last year, she was 92. In an attempt to help her recall & remember, I purchased Vermont Books and postcards of White River Junction, West Hartford, & Quechee to share with her at the nursing home. She came alive telling us all about being young in Vermont (primarily Windsor Co.) She recalled a terrible flood in the late 1920's. She told of Maple tree tapping. Her Dad had a saw mill. The covered bridges. She still has a photo of the old school in West Hartford she attended. Her mother my great grandmother died here in KC, but requested she be buried at West Hartford next to her parents. (Ellis/Sharp)We of course honored her wishes. I feel as if I grew up there myself. I want to help. Please post the name of Organizations or Churches we out of towners can donate to that will help the locals out the most. I truly hope the HISTORY of your wonderful area can be salvaged.
