If you are a big animal lover, it will be really hard for you to look at the photos and complete reading this story.............
The Faroes "Bay Of Blood" are a group of about 30 islandslocated in the North Atlantic Ocean, situated halfway between Icelandand Scotland. They fall under the crown of Denmark, but aresemi-independent. The population is about 46,000, and they inhabitabout half of the islands.
The Faroes economy relies only on economic fishing, but that doesn’t give them the right to slaughter 544 Atlantic white sided dolphins in a single day, like they did in 1988.
recently, studies have shown that the meat and blubber of pilot whales contain high amounts of mercury, PCBs, DDT and dieldrin.
To the people of the Faroe Islands...I say, "STOPTHIS SENSELESS MASSACRE!!!" Anyone who could bury a hook into the backof a whale, drag it to shore, slit its throat, and butcher it, deservesto die of mercury poisoning...or worse.

Pigs are farmed. Dolphins and whales are not.
Denmark should stop the Faroese for killing whales and dolphins, and will if this reach the media and hurt Denmarks foreign relations.
Like when Denmark stopped the eskimos in Greenland with the seal killing.

wow :) lol.
I´m not nazi. senseless killing is maybe things such as bullfighting and stuff.
That we can survive withour whale killing doesn´t mean that we have to stop it.
Denmark can also survive without swine killing. but they don´t stop it just because of that.

If they ever spent any significant time with whales and dolphins in the sea (on their terms) I think people would want to stop this. It is a very subjective and emotional opinion but it's just hard to regard these animals as pests or food once you have seen how like us they really are.

Please stop whaling = Ask Iceland to save whales = Dear Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir + Petition asks Denmark to defend whales
ASK THE NEW ICELAND GOVERNMENT TO
END COMMERCIAL WHALING FOR GOOD!
Ask Iceland to save whales
Ask Iceland's new government to save whales
May 2009: Iceland's new Prime Minister has an important opportunity this month to end decades of damaging policy, by becoming a world leader in whale conservation.
www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/oceans/whaling...
Dear Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir,
I am writing to offer my congratulations on both your election victory and your appointment as Prime Minister of Iceland and to wish you every success in the formidable task you have ahead of you, to restore Iceland’s economy and reputation.
Out of chaos comes opportunity; after nearly two decades under the same political rule, your government can create a new future for Iceland – one that is not only economically but also ecologically sustainable.
Already Iceland is a leading nation in harnessing renewable energy, but the issue of whaling is a constant impediment to Iceland being viewed as a truly global environmental leader. Stopping whaling and instead strongly advocating eco-tourism and whale-watching as an alternative would not only be a strong signal of intent from the new administration, but it would also bring significant economic benefits to Iceland. It is not in Iceland’s best interests to allow the country to be held hostage by a small group of men who want to hunt whales.
According to the Icelandic Tourist Board, more than 500,000 people visited last year. Almost 115,000 people of these people went whale watching, with more than 20% of them citing whale watching as an important reason for visiting Iceland, spending millions of dollars in the process.
Another 115,000 people have signed a Greenpeace ‘Iceland Pledge’, stating that they would seriously consider visiting Iceland if Iceland stops whaling, as well as agreeing for their contact details to be shared with the Icelandic government. Their business could generate as much as US$117 million in income for Iceland, much more than the planned whaling programme. At its peak the Icelandic whaling industry only generated US$4million.
In the economic regeneration of Iceland, it is important to consider not just what can be earned through whale watching and tourism, but also what can be lost through a full scale resumption of commercial whaling.
As you are aware, major supermarket chains that import Icelandic seafood, such as Waitrose and Whole Foods, have recently voiced their concerns over the plan to resume whaling, warning that it may force them to reconsider their purchasing policy.
I urge you, Prime Minister, to take this opportunity to put decades of damaging policy behind you, and become a world leader in whale conservation and eco-economics. I ask that you cancel Iceland’s five year commercial whaling quota, starting with this summer’s hunt for endangered fin whales. I also request that you instruct your new representative at the International Whaling Commission to vote for whale conservation at the meeting in June.
I hope that in the coming weeks Greenpeace will be able to release to your government the details of those who have signed the Iceland Pledge, and strongly advocate Iceland as an environmental model for other nations to follow.

Petition asks Denmark to defend whales
www.nowpublic.com/petition_asks_denmark_to_de fend_whales#...
whales.greenpeace.org/cyberaction.php
Denmark position inside the International Whaling Commission (IWC) has changed many times in the past years. Mostly of its population opposes whaling and it has supported many positive initiatives to protect whales, but recently it changed again its position becoming a strong pro-whaling country, mostly due to the pressure of Greenland and the Faroe island.
Japanese Government invited Denmark, as many other Governments, to a meeting this February to discuss the future of the Whaling Industry. The clear intent is to create an illusion of widespread support for an end to the moratorium on commercial whaling by the IWC.
Today Greenpeace launched a petition asking Denmark not to go to this meeting.
It's possible to sign the petition here.

Stop Icelandic Whaling
www.nowpublic.com/stop_icelandic_whaling
Iceland has just announced that they will give a license to one man to commercially hunt whales. The quota is 30 minke whales and 9 fin whales - which are an endangered species.
39 whales might not sound like much, but considering the threats that these whales face from climate change, pollution and overfishing, this is the last thing they need.
The decision does not make economic sense either. Greenpeace campaigner Frode Pleym said, "Iceland has no market for whale meat, but they do have a huge and far more valuable market for whale watching."
Tell Iceland that it makes much more sense to support whale watching, not whaling.

They're hunting whales again !
Iceland started hunting whales agian. Look at the schocking movie how this is done. At the same time Greenpeace exposes a scandal at heart of whaling for scientific purpose in Japan.
