Where Does Your Food Come From? Farm or Factory

Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, Canada

It's peak farming time here on Vancouver Island.  We have the vegetable garden well underway and with a few clear, sunny days it's time, not for the beach, but for haying.  It's a good time to reflect on where we seem to be going with our food supply.  With the rising cost for food now filtering through into the supermarkets, many people are shopping for what they think are the bargains.  If price point is the primary way that you shop, you should be aware of some of the consequences of that choice.  There is an excellent net site at www.themeatrix1.com/

Now that we have another case of BSE in the province, it is a good idea to investigate how your food is grown.
