Who is scarce: A professor or army general?
Unlike those named professor with their political involvement and politicians interfering in academic institutions violating the universities’ independence, a real professor earns his professor status after many records of research and brilliant research outputs, best teaching practice, contributions of relevant articles in academic journals and writing books contributing to knowledge.
Again unlike army generals who earn their general status due to their political involvement, a real general is one who has many track records in leading and coordinating the army, winning battles, ability to design and implement military strategies, etc.
The professor contributes more of academic knowledge while the general contributes more of experiential knowledge. So, who is scarce and most valuable? It is true that the scarcity depends on the timing and field they are needed. But which one is easier to get when needed?
