LOWVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -- "Listen," John Yancey says, leaning against his truck in a field outside his home. The rhythmic whoosh, whoosh, whoosh of wind turbines echoes through the air. Sleek and white, their long propeller blades rotate in formation, like some otherworldly dance of spindly-armed aliens swaying across the land the blades cast at certain points in the day. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/A_BITTER_WIND?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=US Maybe some people would rather turn out their lights.
Boone Pickens is up against bird lovers. They should ban airlines too then.
Someone will complain about everything.
Yancey stares at them, his face contorted in anger and pain. He knows the futuristic towers are pumping clean electricity into the grid, knows they have been largely embraced by his community. But Yancey hates them. He hates the sight and he hates the sound. He says they disrupt his sleep, invade his house, his consciousness. He can't stand the gigantic flickering shadows.

Hi Bill, I'm originally from upstate NY, so have an interest in this. Are you having trouble using the Highlight Tool to quote another resource?

bill hicks, I like this story. It's good stuff. I am skepticle about anyone who complains about mass bird deaths with wind power. Though there is some evidence to support that claim, it is rare. Also, many more birds can die from pollution and flying into buildings. I would guess Windex has killed more birds than slow moving wind power blades.
http://www.awea.org/faq/sagrillo/swbirds.html Bird death report - albeit, it is on the AWEA website, so it is hardly from an outside perspective. That doesn't make it any less true.
