Soaring Through the Sky
This was at Yaki Point, the third vista we visited that day and second to last stop before Desert View (the vista I was dying to see).
During our visit to the Grand Canyon, it was amazing to see the mood of everything change there just by the clouds. Our day started with a nice, blue sky and puffy clouds everywhere; and ended with it grey...overcast...a definite layering of clouds. I actually liked seeing this change, for it does allow you to get different pictures and makes your captures more moody in tone. You see this here...a definite mood. I have processed this in b&w (which is nice), but for some reason the color here with warmer tones worked better for me. I think I like this processing because it shows the nice layers of the canyon walls that seemed to change in color throughout the day as well.
That bird...well...it seemed to be there at the right place and time. I took several shots with it flying over us and I really liked all the shots it was in. I still look at it and think of how free it is to be flying there...solo...soaring high. What's funny is that Lilian did not even see or capture the bird that day. He was surprised that I took these. We were within feet of each other and it always amazes me that he captures something quite different - our perspectives different as well. And sometimes, well, we don't even see the same things.
I loved this day at the canyon. I truly did. I went through a number of emotions while being there. This capture seems to fit the emotion I was experiencing at the time, before we moved on to Desert View minutes later.
I'm thankful for these shots and memories to last a lifetime. It went by too quickly.
