NP Rank:
Yosemite Fall Hikers Presumed Dead
Three Hikers Fell from Vernal Fall in Yosemite
Rangers at Yosemite National Park say that there were three hikers who fell from Vernal Fall on July 19, and that they are all presumed dead.
The three hikers who fell from Vernal Fall were identified as Hormiz David (22), Ramina Badal (21), and Ninos Yacoub (27).
Hormiz David and Ramina Badal were from Modesto, CA; Ninos Yacoub was from Turlock, CA. Counting this incident, there have been six water-related deaths in Yosemite this year.
According to witnesses, the three were posing for photos beyond the guard rail atop Vernal Fall. One of them slipped and the others tried to help. All three were swept downriver toward the waterfall.
The Mist Trail has been reopened, though park rangers will continue searching for the three hikers.

This is a wild park and you must be alert and prepared at all times. Unfortunately, some visitors treat the park as a Disney Vacation Theme Park and think someone is going to magically appear to help out or rescue them. We don't need more guardrails or more laws to protect us from ourselves. I think it's human nature that some will push the limits despite the dangers bit.ly/qEJsIQ
