"Don`t drive your car to a market just to buy a bunch of vegetables. It`s so inefficient and contributes to pollution as well," he said.

The head of state also called on government officials and the people to use bicycles when they want to go to a destination that was only three or four kilometers away.

"If we want to go to a place which is only three or four kilometers away, it`s better to use bicycles. It`s economical and healthy," the President said.

On plastic goods, the President urged the people to limit the use of non-degradable plastic and stereofoam food containers.

"To ban the use of plastic and stereofoam, we need to issue a specific law ," he said.
