A small eruption has just occurred minutes ago at Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico. I just got this picture from their webcam a few minutes before posting this news. I will update this story if there are any developments.
Update 07.29.07 12.39 GMT Since posting this story I have not seen anymore eruptions only puffs of smoke. I have posted the latest image from the volano webcam taken a few minutes ago.
For more information about the volcano see the link below.

vinny1, thanks for getting this story out so quickly. It will now show up on the home page for four hours. If new developments justify it, I'll renew this flag for another cycle.

I think this is an important story and would benefit from other NowPublic contributors working on it. I've flagged it as News Wanted and invite others in relevant locations to look for more evidence.

El Popo is fascinating: apparently it steam up all the time, and is really close to Ciudad Mexico, but the visibility isn't always good enough to see it from the city due to the pollution. One of our photo contributors to this article, andreacanon, lives in Mexico City and also enjoys watching the volcano, mainly for aestheric purposes, as it's quite beautiful.
