Everton 1-2 Spurs: never doubted it for a second
Goals from Berbatov and Jenas, a spirited performance from Keane and Lee and a
much improved performance from Tainio saw Spurs through to a 2-1 victory away
from home. Their first league victory of 2007 and their second league victory
away from home this season.
Midnightjester shoots 2 for 2 and gets the score right in Spurs 2007 revival as
their 2-1 win over Everton at Goodison
Park, in a game they
dominated, comes around as predicted. In truth we might have wone 3 or 4 nil
but for some easy missed chances and Robinson forgetting how to defend a free
kick. Any thoughts of berating him for his James-like calamity were wiped away
by 2 excellent saves to make up for it.
What we did right in this game was play to our strengths. The fans have been
demanding an attacking strategy away from home and that was what they got.
Tanio's persistence earned the ball in midfield- quickly served to Lennon and
crossed to Berbatov to meet the net shortly after. Everton saw so little ball
in the first half they forgot what it looked like. It took a lucky call from
Uriah Rennie over-ruling his assistant ref and Robinson doing a Calamity James
impression standing behind his own wall to get them back in it.
David Moyes retreating to a 4-5-1 got them some possession in the second half
but Toffees fans must be livid at their team's lack of commitment and David
Moyes decision to add a more defensive player for the last 10 minutes whilst
drawing at home. This allowed Spurs to dominate the ball and carve out a number
of openings before Jenas netted with a sweet strike from outside the box.
