explorASIAN is pleased to be a major part of the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival this year.  The 2006 Alcan Dragon Boat Festival will connect the traditional to the contemporary with its award winning mixture of appealing performances, exciting dragon boat racing, fun and interactive children's activities, hands on demonstrations for the whole family, and food and beverages from around the world.  explorASIAN has put together a fantastic line-up of performances on the CBC Radio World Beat Stage featuring a collection of cross-cultural fusions and laid-back beats inspired by the musical traditions of Indonesia, India and South Asia, and the Philippines.

Friday – June 16, 2006
11:00am SEYMOUR TAIKO (Youth Taiko Group)
Friday for kids features on-water paddling for kids and some activities including a performance by SEYMOUR TAIKO.
5:00pm BLESSING CEREMONY
Experience the "awakening of the dragons" during the Eye-dotting Ceremony, Ceremony performed by the Ching Chung Taoist Church. Free to General Public
DRAGON BOAT RACES
Dragon Boat Races are scheduled on Saturday, June 17 from 8am to 6pm, and on Sunday, June 18 from 8am to 4pm
 
LIVE PERFORMANCES
The CBC Radio World Beat Stage will be presenting the best in World Music by local performing artists on Saturday, June 17 from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sunday, June 18 from 10am to 4pm.  Live performance programming by explorASIAN.  Come and enjoy the terrific concerts and shows and meet the performers. Start your mornings with tai chi exercise!
