A family were forced to sleep in a supermarket, spent two nights in emergency shelters and lived off donated food after being caught up in devastating floods.Debbie and Justin Goddard and their three children lost their car, clothes and everything they had with them after becoming stranded in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.
At one point they had to be moved between emergency shelters by raft because all roads in the town were under several feet of water.
The nightmare journey home to Mountsorrel, Loughborough, Leicestershire from Cornwall ended up taking five days.
Justin, 31, said: "It still all seems a bit surreal now that we're back. I still can't believe how fast the river came up around us and it was a scary experience.
"That first night it was like War of the Worlds with all the helicopters with searchlights hovering around in the sky.
"But the truth is we have only lost our car and a few possessions that were in it. Other people have lost everything, so we're pretty lucky by comparison."

Thanks angryindian
Must have been a nightmare journey. And there are many more stories like
this and worse.
Climate change will effect all of us sooner or later, and Floodplains need to be able to cope with this
change.
Huge underground galvanized tanks have been built in some floodplain areas
(Towcester, Northamptonshire) with great success, but for how long? A DIY
product which stops the water coming in through the doors looks like a possible
relatively cheep answer for many households Flood Protection Door Barrier
