NEW ORLEANS -- FBI agents raided New Orleans' most prominent film production company, and a newspaper reported Saturday that federal investigators are looking into whether there were any bribes or kickbacks for Louisiana's generous tax breaks.

Nobody at the Louisiana Institute of Film and Technology was told what the raid was about, attorney Steve London said Friday night. He said LIFT would have turned over documents voluntarily, but was not asked.

Agents with search warrants spent several hours in LIFT's office in the Central Business District and suburban Harahan, taking records and computers.[q]

I
was wondering when the Times would consider this news. It has been big
news in South Louisiana for four days already! It would be nice to
share the investigative reports on the abuses of the tax credit system
put in place by Mark Smith and his pals.
