Ellyn McColgan, president of distributions and operations at Fidelity Investments, has resigned to "pursue opportunities outside the company," Fidelity said. Ms. McColgan was recently promoted to the role, and was seen as a possible successor to Edward C. Johnson III, Fidelity's chairman and the head of the family that controls the firm.
