Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva agreed to export ethanol made from suger canes to the U.S. when U.S. President George W. Bush visited Brazil during his Latin American tour this week.

This is one of the first U.S. requests that Brazil agree to after having been approached to join the Free Trade Area of the Americas which would allow free trade from Canada to Chile.

Brazil turned down joining the FTAA because of fear of hurting Brazil's agricultural industry, an industry heavily subsidized in the U.S.

To learn what went on in Brazil during Bush's visit, read the story as reported by the Associated Press.
