November 3, 2006 At 11.30 pm Friday, 3 November, crews from Newtown, Redfern, City of Sydney, Alexandria and Drummoyne responded to premises in Newtown where a rubbish fire had spread to a three storey residential building. 100 people were evacuated and two were sent to hospital with smoke inhalation. The fire was brought under control just after midnight. NSWFB operations ended at 2:15 am. The building was severely damaged.
