February 17, 2007 North Carolina - In the past year, Larry Mackey has recruited at historically black colleges, at high schools and at job fairs for veterans being discharged from the military. The longtime firefighter is trying to bring more diversity to the mostly white male Charlotte Fire Department. It's an issue close to his heart.
