Indiana - (LODD) Fire officials say an Upland volunteer firefighter who was injured when a floor collapsed beneath him in a burning home has died. Sidney Hall was a member of the Upland Volunteer Fire Department and had a wife and two sons.

Hall became trapped him in the basement of the burning house on Wednesday, and authorities say seven other firefighters suffered lesser injuries rescuing him.

the story didn't mention any kind of negligence on the part of the fire department. what was the firefighter doing in the basement of that burning building in the first place? and why bother going into a house, unless somebody's trapped. we had five Milford firefighters died in one just blaze due to some gross negligence. therefore I'm always understandably suspicious, whenever a firefighter needlessly dies just to help save a lousy house.....
