A COMPANY responsible for the firework which ploughed into a crowd of Bonfire Night revellers at Wicksteed Park has admitted failing to ensure public safety.

Kimbolton Fireworks have been fined a total of £18,000 and ordered to pay £30,000 legal costs after admitting a failure to ensure public safety and failing to sufficiently consider health and safety risks for the event held at Wicksteed Park on November 5, 2005.

A stray mortar firework ploughed into the 15,000-strong crowd just eight minutes into the display, leaving several children and adults with serious burns.
