Moira Cameron has become the first female beefeater or Yeomen Warder in the Tower of London. Dressed in a dark blue coat with red stitching and a matching top hat, she is the first woman since 1485 to have mastered the Ceremony of the Keys.
The first woman to join the ranks of the Beefeaters in more than 500 years has mastered the Ceremony of the Keys, the nightly locking-up ritual of the Tower of London guards.

Victoria Revay, I like this story. It's good stuff. Great photos from everyone, what a fantastic way to read the news! Refreshing. Thanks for introducing me to Now Public. I think I will become hooked. And as for the first female Yeoman? Kudos to her! As the Brits say, Good on her! Nice to see. Too bad I think I missed her by about a month when I visited the Tower in June.
