Summary

Firefighters battling the Ford Fire, in the Emerald
Hills subdivision, are contending with high winds and temperatures
today (20 August), as a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 2100
hours. The main areas that continue to be affected are in Whispering
Pines, Box Canyon and near Trailmaster Road. Lockwood Fire Chief Bill
Rash encouraged the evacuated residents to stay clear of the area due
to the dangerous conditions and the large amount of firefighting
resources in the area.

Two primary residences have been
destroyed, along with several outbuildings and vehicles. Many more
homes have been saved by firefighters and good defensible space.
Engines from surrounding towns, counties and agencies are in place
providing wildand and structure protection via mutual aid to the
Lockwood Fire Department.

A public meeting was held at the Lockwood Middle School at 4 p.m on 20 August and the evacuation order remains in effect.

A
public meeting has been scheduled for 8 a.m. on Tuesday, 21 August 2007
by fire managers to provide current information to the public and media.

Kati Garner, I think your story has potential but needs some improvement. I've got a few suggestions, and if you give them a try, I'd be happy to remove this flag. The highlight tool allows the quick and accurate use of a few paragraphs of out-takes from a story, and then gives a link to the source story. With the highlight tool, things like list of non-news items like "current wind conditions--not available" can be easily avoided.
