Forest Fire accross the valley

This forest fire destroyed many homes and caused evacuation in the Yucca valley. Fortunately the wind blew east away from us. Smoke from this fire reached Las Vegas and it was reported that the fire was visible from the space shuttle:YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Governor Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency in San Bernardino County where a raging 40,000-acre wildfire continues to burn.And there is concern that the Sawtooth fire may merge with another 7,000-acre fire that's burning just a few miles away.The Millard complex -- which started as four fires -- is a potential threat to 75 homes, but so far there are no evacuations. It is just five percent contained.The Sawtooth fire, ignited by lightning over the weekend, has destroyed 42 homes and 55 other structures.Schwarzenegger's emergency proclamation cites "conditions of extreme peril to public health and safety of persons and property."Authorities say smoke from the fires can be smelled as far away as Las Vegas and Ogden, Utah.
