Fort Hood: If Nidal Malik Hasan talks, will he live?
Getting Hasan to talk could be crucial if evidence points to a broader conspiracy that could include more attacks, says Annemarie McAvoy, a former federal prosecutor.
"A guy like this may well not be interested in talking, because it's an ideological issue with a reward in the afterlife – in fact, a lot of these folks tell [investigators] to pound dirt," says Ms. McAvoy, now an expert on terrorism financing at Fordham Law School in New York. "On the other hand, he's an American and so hopefully if he's pulled away for a while he could become more reasonable and more cooperative.
"The big question that investigators have to answer and answer quickly is whether this was a plot or was it really an isolated act," she adds.
Emerging evidence that Hasan may have terrorist connections could alter the prosecutorial strategy, as his story would hold invaluable information for investigators. One way to get that information would be to offer Hasan a deal – such as revoking the death penalty if he'll fill in the gaps in the investigation.

"...death penalty if he'll fill in the gaps in the investigation."
That would be highly unlikely that this 'Major' accept that. What will happen to the 72 virgins and 12 acres of landscape in seventh heaven?

This murdering ideologue and religious fanatic is a real piece of work! If someone can get something out of him that will help to prevent further violence on the part of Muslim terrorists it would certainly be helpful. But if he's found guilty, and doesn't receive a death sentence, it's not going to sit well with the families of those that he murdered. And it's not going to sit well with members of the American military in general. The mere fact that the American military allowed a terrorist into its ranks, let alone promote this creep to major in light of all his ideological rantings speaks volumes about how much it has succumbed to the dictates of PC. If the American military brass had half a collective brain left (which it obviously doesn't) they'd do the right thing out of respect for the soldiers that were murdered. Namely hang the SOB. I'm disgusted with the U.S. military over this incident and I don't know how any self-respecting and patriotic American can stand to be part of the U.S. military nowadays--especially under the present commander in chief who, in my opinion, is a disgrace when it comes to the military.
