Fox promises even worse journalism
It's possible that TV audiences will be dumb enough to watch FOX even though they're pitching their new business channel as a conduit for corporate messaging. You know the business news business has the bar set at historic lows when General Electric (the parent company of NBC) isn't considered business-friendly enough.
NEW YORK - News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch says the new Fox Business Channel will be "more business-friendly" than rival CNBC, making that point on the day he announced his network would launch at the end of the year.It was the first hint that a classic political tactic used in launching Fox News Channel a decade ago — defining the opposition — was back in play.
Within a day of Murdoch's statement on Feb. 8, Fox News business anchor Neil Cavuto told MarketWatch that "we're going to be a channel for America — not for old white men with money."
Roger Ailes, chairman and chief executive for Fox News, told The New York Times that he'd often seen things on CNBC where they aren't as friendly to corporations and profits as they should be.

I like this part:" We're going to be a channel for America -- not for old white men with money." Right...

It will be interesting to see if Murdoch brings his most successful marketing idea from FoxNews to the new business channel: hiring gorgeous female correspondents.

Please don't hate Fox because they're beautiful...
I've always thought the formula for FOX's success is that they do what they're proposing to do with this new business channel. That is, they will uncritically parrot the official views of the powerful. It worked well - for a while - with the Bush administratiion in a political context and I have no doubts it will work well in a commercial setting. It's not difficult to build an ad supporrted media empire by pandering to the monied and the powerful. It's not difficult to get exclusive access to decision makers when you pepper them with softballs. This should be a runaway success. The only losers here are the news watching public.

At NowPublic, this is high praise from NowPublic editors!
With Fox News, one cannot really tell when the reporting stops and the advertising begins. Murdoch has proven to be a pure mercenary, which is less trustworthy than simply leaning to the left or to the right.
Your story is now on the home page for awhile, and everywhere else the “good stuff” box shows up. Many thanks for your great work.

DITTO! I can hardly believe Fox News still exists after all the crap news they put out. Let's quite the bloggers but keep big media alive...no matter how much news they make up. Half the time I think Fox News is the video version of the grocery store tabloid.
