Fred Miller's Channel

In Pune, India....I graduated with a B.A., majoring in English Litt. and minored in Psychology and Education. After college I co-founded and ran a successful screen-printed T-Shirt business, designing and cutting stencils by hand. Upon earning my B.A. I took the unusual route of not becoming a Teacher in a high school and instead opted to become a Vocalist/Guitarist, performing in Blues-Rock and Dance/Pop bands from '71 to '76.....
.....when I moved to the USA....with about $40 and the support of my sister and her husband.

From that point on it was anything goes as I was faced with a whole new exciting world. I attended semesters in Graphic Arts, Illustration, Fashion Design and Typography at various New York institutions like the School of Visual Arts, Parsons School of Design, the New School, and also took private lessons in Anatomy Art in the Greenwich Village area. All this to satisfy my creative urges rather than settle into a career position.

Lack of funds and the ignorance thereof led me to work in warehouses and stockrooms, open my own Gift Boutique, run my sister's Ethnic Food Store, etc. until I entered the Hospitality Industry, working in Hotels in New jersey and New York in Guest Services and Night Auditing positions. Following that I moved into the arena of Limousine driving for Entertainment and Financial VIPs, having had the often-dubious pleasure of spending time alone with stars like Robert Blake, Mia Farrow, Isaac Hayes, Mary J. Blige, Damon Wayans, David Spade, Tim Burton, Dolph Lundgren and Edward James Olmos to name a few. It was what I wanted for a long time - ever since I was a starstruck kid back in India.

But then...I moved along with my sis and her family to Houston, Texas and slid back to working in Guest Services in Hotels like the Hilton, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites.

A stroke of bad luck made me lose my position as Assistant G.M. at a Hampton Inn after which I was faced with the same old dilemma of needing further education but lacking the means...and suddenly I was in my mid-50s and struggling to find employment.

But since '97 I had discovered the Internet and so with my English degree propelling me I got into moderating a couple of Yahoo groups and then started my own Blog which has a life of its own and which I earn no money from. So you may say I've been an Artist, Musician, Stockroom clerk, Hotel Clerk, Limo Driver, Personal Assistant, and Retail Store Clerk among other things.
A lifetime of experience and ignorance fueled by curiosity and the urge to find the next amazing thing that will grab my attention. Stay tuned.....over here all I'm looking to do is trade stories about anything that touches the heart and emotions, and have some fun doing it. Of course my dream is if it works out I may even get paid to contribute
