Now big foreign as well as Indian companies are entering in to retail sector in India. Some Malls have already opened and survey indicates a drastic fall in profit of individual retail venders (like the one in PIC) . This may lead to mass poverty for the small individual retailers in coming time in India.
Organized Retail definitely have many advantages over the individual retailing and cost for consumers can come down. In this light, Reforms are OK, But reforms should be two faced like that in a coin i.e. at one face Reforms are implemented and simultaneously in the second face adequate actions are taken, to take care of the people who suffers from reform process. One sided Reforms are already leading to economic and social unrest in India....incersing Maoist Menace in many state of India is an strong Indication. We have now highest no of Billionaires in ASIA, but also the highest number of children suffering form Malnutrition. Now it’s the time to review the economic reform process started in 1990 and make it more equitable.
