NP Rank:
Fuse Fridays at VAG
The November 25th Fuse Friday at the Vancouver Art Gallery will be the last one of the season.
Over the summer and into the fall, on the last Friday of the month, the VAG extended their Friday hours and took 33% off their admission (regular $15) to make viewing art hip and a Friday night thing-to-do. What with the gallery being located at the very center of downtown, the bright pink reflecting off the walls, funky music all night, and idyllic Robson Square next door when you step out for a breath, it was a revelling moment of living in Vancouver when I went for the August Fuse Friday.
The current headliner exhibit is titled "Protean Picasso," a collection of drawings and prints from the National Gallery of Canada. The rest of the exhibits are open for viewing including the other two special exhibits "Classified Materials," and one by Jason McLean. The Emily Carr collection (it's permanent) is also a sight to see - especially if you don't really spend time out of the city, like myself. There will be a lecture and a performance to round out an artistic evening.
Event runs from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.
