After attempting to retrieve a visitor's wallet from the tracks of the "X-treme racers" roller coaster, a young staff member of the Billund Legoland Amusement Park was struck and instantly killed this past Sunday.

The Billund park, just outside the doors of Lego's headquarters in Denmark, offers kid-powered rides, building challenges, interactive displays including robotics, and of course, several roller coaster rides themed after the company's many play sets.

Legoland's managing Director, Henrik Hohrmann said: “LEGOLAND has never experienced such an
accident before. Everyone here is deeply shocked by this tragic death,
and all our thoughts today are with her family and friends. The
health and safety of both our guests and our employees is always our
main priority; and together with the Police and the Danish Technology
Institute, who are helping in the investigation, we will do our utmost
to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
