Govt to ensure compensation payments to Lapindo mudflow victims

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government will make sure that people who
lost homes and land by the Lapindo mudflow disaster in Sidoarjo, East
Java, will be compensated based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres)
14/2007, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said.



"We will not let the people keep on suffering. We have to speed up the
efforts (aiming to) reduce their burden seriously," the President said
in his address on the Draft 2008 State Budget and the government`s
Financial Notes at a House of Representatives (DPR) plenary session on
Thursday.
